The Green Mile 2 (2025)

Watch Trailer:

The Green Mile 2 begins decades after the events of the first film. Paul Edgecomb (Tom Hanks), now in his late 90s and living in a quiet nursing home, still carries the emotional burden of losing John Coffey. But everything changes when a mysterious new inmate arrives at Cold Mountain’s old, renovated facility — Noah Coffey (Michael Clarke Duncan Jr.), John’s long-lost son, hidden from the world after his mother died protecting him.

Noah possesses the same supernatural healing abilities as his father, but unlike John, he struggles to control them. When Noah touches people, he absorbs not only their sickness but also their deepest pain, overwhelming him with grief. Viola Davis plays Warden Evelyn Grant, a compassionate but strict leader determined to understand Noah’s abilities while keeping the prison under control.

As the story unfolds, Paul learns that Noah was secretly brought in by government agents who want to exploit his powers. When Noah refuses, claiming the gift is meant for mercy, not weaponization, chaos erupts. His emotions overload the prison, causing lights to explode, inmates to collapse, and guards to witness visions of their own sins.

Haunted by memories of John, Paul returns to Cold Mountain for one final attempt at redemption. He forms an unlikely alliance with Warden Grant to help Noah escape before the government transfers him permanently.

The climax sees Noah healing Paul, giving him peace from decades of guilt — but the act drains Noah to near death. In a heartbreaking sacrifice mirroring his father, Noah uses the last of his power to expose the corrupt officials behind the program.

Paul dies peacefully that night, finally free, while Noah disappears into the world to continue John Coffey’s legacy of quiet miracles.
